Treat Burns

How to use Burnsil Cream

Apply at least 2-3 mm thick directly to the wound or on a sterile gauze dressing. Reapply at least once every 24 hr after removal of the old cream.

Helpful Suggestions:

• Effective in treating various bacterial infections, especially those associated with burns and wounds.
• Avoid exposure of treated body parts to sunlight.
• Avoid frequent application of the product and change the dressing before each application.
• The product should not be applied to bleeding wounds.

Pharmacology

• Exhibits bactericidal effects against gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria, as well as yeast.
• Inhibits bacterial folic acid production necessary for bacterial multiplication.
• Acts on bacterial cell walls and membranes, preventing bacterial spread and reducing the risk of sepsis.

Dose of Burnsil Cream

Adult Dose

For topical/cutaneous treatment and prophylaxis of infection in severe burns:

• Apply onto the affected area 1-2 times/day.

Child Dose

• <2 months: Contraindicated
• >2 months (1% cream): Apply onto the affected area 1-2 times/day.

Directions for Use:

• Cleanse the burn wounds and apply Silver Sulfadiazine cream over the burn wound.
• Cover the burn areas with the cream at all times.
• Apply once to twice daily to a thickness of approximately 1/16 inches or 1.5 mm.
• Reapply whenever necessary, especially after hydrotherapy.
• Treatment should continue until satisfactory healing occurs or until the burn site is ready for grafting.

Interaction

It can interact with other topically applied medicines, and avoid simultaneous application of other medicines at the site of application of the product.

Contraindications

If you are allergic to silver or other ingredients of the product.

During Pregnancy & Lactation

Hypersensitivity, liver damage & oliguria. Pregnancy. Premature infants & neonates.

Precautions & Warnings

Talk to your doctor if

• You experience allergy or sensitivity after the application of the product.
• It should not be used in children and infants without consulting a doctor.
• Don't use the medicine for a prolonged duration and internal wounds.
• You should clean the wound completely before going for any procedure where the presence of metal can cause a problem such as hyperbaric oxygenation (a surgical procedure to speed up healing).

• Generally well-tolerated, but side effects such as burning, irritation, itching, and redness at the application site may occur.
• Caution is advised in patients with glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency, low white blood cell count, and liver, or kidney problems.

• Limited information on interactions with alcohol; consult a doctor before use.
• Safe for use before driving, but avoid if experiencing side effects like dizziness.
